Miranda’s Shattered Wrist

Dear Ones:
We thank God for trials. This last month it has not just rained but poured!
God is up to something big — I know it! Would you pray with us?

Before I get to Miranda, let me back up a bit. Our last twelve weeks of revival meetings have been great. We’ve seen God do marvellous things in those 76 services, but on October 19 our world tipped. Our truck transmission blew up and had to be rebuilt. ($3,638) God provided people and finances.

2 weeks later in Ohio our fifth wheel’s left equalizer shackle broke burning a tire and allowing us to see God at work again. This is an amazing story.

The sewer backed up at our “home” in Greenville, SC (Plumbers estimate to repair leaks and pipes $4,400). God brought us a Christian plumber who located the problem and did the work for $110. Micah’s car engine melted. Crankshaft cannot be turned with a big wrench (replacement $1,425.) Our fifth wheel furnace will not light (49 degrees yesterday in here when we awoke.) The basement water pump burned up yesterday. Two headlights went out! Is this the way your life is going too?
Last week traveling south on I-85 in NC a spring broke on the front axle of our fifth wheel burning and chewing the tread of two tires ($325 per tire). In the country, God provided an exit with only a gas station and …a tire store! Though the tire shop did not assist us, they let us borrow two jack stands, a wrench and a 1/2 inch breaker bar. Marciah, Malchijah and I tore our rig apart and replaced the spring and wheel assembly by hand. (Last May I had purchased an extra spring and was carrying it – God knows.) Five hours later we were back on the road! PTL!

I have been studying the book of Job. Praise the Lord we haven’t had it like he did, but his amazing faith has inspired me. I’m learning…quickly…I hope!

…And Wednesday Miranda (22) fell while playing a game with the family and cousins and shattered her left wrist. We went from one med center to another for treatment and diagnosis. Surgery scheduled for Friday was postponed for the holidays(!) Tuesday (8AM) her surgery will insert permanent plates and screws put in to pull what pieces can be pulled together. We have no idea what the cost will be yet. We are involved with a network of Christians who share medical expenses but we have had to move to a $10,000 deductible due to economical reasons. (I know you understand) From the doctor’s counsel, it sounds like this surgery could reach that level. Please pray for wisdom, direction and healing that Miranda may by God’s grace be able to play the piano again and compute for schooling, work and writing.

God is doing something awesome! I can’t wait to find out! We know you care and will pray. We would really appreciate it right now!

Gratefully,
Randy Merrill and Family

    Dear Randy and gang,

I received a letter from your mom yesterday with this website address included. As I have read down thru your challenges I realize that I am not the only one with so much on a plate at one time. Just the month of January has proven to be one of the most challenging months I have ever lived. First it was the car breaking down, the oven breaking in the stove in the kitchen, the computer acting up, and on and on and on it goes. Often I have thought of trying to find the “resign from life” desk, but knowing it’s not what God’s for me. During the past year of my life I have had to learn to live without my mother. God took her home December 14, 2008. The past year has been a very trying time for me in many, many ways. I have come a long way with the Lord, but know I still have a long way to go. Recently I have grabbed onto this: HE NEVER FORGETS ME! “Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go.” Genesis 28:15 Often I have felt so all alone, yet I know I am never alone. I have that litle phrase and verse hanging on my bulletin board above my desk at home as well as on a magnet on my locker at work. A tower of strength comes from that little bit.
I am aware of the challenges your dad has. Compared to his challenges, doesn’t ours seem so little! I have been praying for Pastor Ron and Donna Lou and will continue to do so. I have connections with two different prayer chains and asked my prayer warriors to pray. I know they have and they will. One prayer chain is connected to Rick Warren’s church in California. That prayer chain connects people all over this country. I KNOW they are praying for your folks. Now that I have an update, I will update both prayer chains and ask them for continued prayer support. God is able……..I know He will allow for Pastor Ron and Donna Lou exactly what He needs for them.
The challenges are many……we MUST continue to trust Him is so able to do the exceedinly abundantly above all we ever could ask or think.
I care and continue in prayer for ALL of you…..hugs……..Dea Sipes
